Tiout + Taroudant - 1 Day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Embark on a day of exploration to Taroudant from Agadir, a city located 86 km east of Agadir, nestled between two mountain ranges—the High Atlas to the north and the Anti-Atlas to the east.

Taroudannt, also called Taroudant, is sometimes nicknamed the "little Marrakech," though this description doesn't capture the essence of the commercial center in the Souss Valley. Hidden behind beautiful red mud walls, with the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas in the backdrop, Taroudannt's souks and squares exude a healthy dose of Maghrebian mystique. Yet, it is also a practical place, a small town where the Berbers trade the products of the rich and fertile plain of Oued Souss.

There are no must-see attractions. Instead, the medina is a place to wander and linger. Both souks are worth a visit—more relaxed than Marrakech but with an atmosphere of activity absent in Agadir. With the lesser-explored Western Little Atlas, the Anti-Atlas, and the coastline nearby, the city serves as an excellent base for trekking and activities. Just 65 km from Al-Massira Airport, it provides a more atmospheric stopover to/from the airport than Agadir.

Once comfortably settled in our minibus or car, with 86 km to cover, the journey is beautiful. The argan trees adorned with their goats bring a smile. Orange and clementine orchards line the entire route.

Upon arrival in Taroudant, also known as the little Marrakech, undoubtedly due to its grand ramparts and bustling moped activity, street vendors, and pedestrians, we explore the artisanal souk located in the city's alleys on foot to fully discover the charm of the medina.

As we continue to walk through the streets, something that always catches our attention is the color of the long veils worn by women—indigo blue. This blue recalls the time of caravans led by the Sahrawis who wore indigo blue cheches. After the visit to the city of Taroudant, we head towards the beautiful oasis of Tioute, 30 km from Taroudant—a village with red ochre houses offering a magnificent landscape. A donkey ride is the best way to discover the palm grove, and lunch (chicken with lemon + couscous) at the kasbah provides an extraordinary panoramic view.

After spending approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes in the village, we return to Agadir.
